We hired Craig to take us from an idea to reality.  Our idea was to build an ecovillage on an old dairy farm where we can live in close connection with one another and in direct relationship with the land.  As a design professional, Craig orchestrated a collaborative process in which all our ideas were heard and encouraged, synthesized into schematic drawings and used for legal entitlements, cost estimating and contracting sitework.  Craigs knowledge of financial modeling, legal frameworks and social dynamics, enlivened our design with real practical foundations.  Craig led our community meetings with clarity, insights and good humor.  Our investment in Craigs services was an essential part of our success! 

His firm produced beautiful drawings and he supported the local and state permitting process, which went seamlessly under his professional guidance. Craig recommended a local dowser who worked his magic in locating the perfect spot while involving staff and students in the process. Craig has selected an excavation contractor, who exceeded our expectations in their timeliness, professionalism, and fair price. After pond construction was complete, Craig helped us to select native plantings and directed community planting work days. Thirteen years later, beautifully grown tamaracks, cedars, firs, spruce, birch, red maples, alders, and cattails tell the story of masterful ecological planning. This pond stays full of cold spring water during the driest and hottest days and has withstood several severe flood events. Hundreds of children and adults share this wonderful pond with fish and ducks! The pond became one of the important assets that brings the community together.

Coming from a design background for houses, I appreciated the attention to detail, rules of thumb and layout that Craig achieved on my stone walkway.  I think we all think these things are easy to achieve, but his planning and consideration of the material at hand (there was not much to spare at the end) really brought a level of design and craft to the finished product.
